Yes, you have already screwed up. :-)
DC and AC impedance are not the same thing when dealing with inductors.
Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Assume that your schematic is right and build it exactly as shown.
If you want to measure the current going through the 45, just measure the voltage at the top of your cathode bias resistor and divide it by the cathode resistor value.
