Well the preamp sounds pretty nice, and given the 6SN7 cathode follower, can drive difficult loads, but so far I knid of like my old preamp better - a simple 5687. Granted, the new one only has 4 or 5 hours on it, so break in is needed. The amp varies from time to time, right now it is a 6BQ5 driving a 300B (ala Thorston's design). I do have some 4P1L in line for my next project so that I can try the DHT approach. It was fun to heat up the soldering iron again, my DIY efforts have been pretty quiet for the last couple years. That's also partly because other people's broken amps have been on my bench taking priority.
