I remembered someone posting a suggestion to use a 10 turn pot for a hum pot a while back. Just tried it for the first time on the 26 preamp. Man are they ever cool! They got rid of the last little bit of AC hum. Now you have to have your ear literally next to the speaker to hear any hum at all, and then only faintly.
The ones I used were older ones I got at a hamfest and they have clicks to them as you turn them, so the increments are very precise. I just set them to midway with an ohm meter and after I hooked them up it only took a few clicks in each direction to zero the hum out. Definetly going to be using these from now on if I can find enough good used ones. I would imagine they are spendy new. Will have to check Mouser to be sure.Dang! I just checked mouser and they want $50 and up for these things new! Definetly have to add these to my "watch for" list for hamfests.
