RE: Rectifier Valves

If you haven't experience working on high voltage equipment I'd advise you not to tackle this project! Regarding the 5V4, finding another tube with the same filament current draw isn't the real problem (using a tube which draws more current than the one specified is never a good idea). This is a cathode type rectifier which will charge the input filter cap of the amp slowly (as the output stage slowly begins to draw current). Going to a filament type rectifier tube will allow the input filter cap to charge to a higher voltage than it may be designed to handle, so that may have to be changed as well. Please seek the help of an experienced local technician or hobbyist before proceeding.
