RE: G2 regulator for SE EL84 amp

As Paul said, probably the best method would be to use a series regulator.

In guitar amps I build, I purposely use a resistor as it tends to break up better.

But on products like the Junior that I built there it uses a HV regulator on the Screen as that will make the sound more audio oriented.

I good regulator on an EL84 will make it sound much better in transients. I would also suggest you lower the screen voltage down a bit to lower the gain. Those damn EL84's have too much gain. I see now that JJ is making a lower gain version. I don't really like the tube that much, compared to a 6V6 at least in guitar amps. Have had to repair too many VOX amps for friends.

Just remember that your bias is going to change with the Screen voltage. You may have to make adjustments for that.

BTW 23V is not really enough, you want the screens really no more than 250V.
