Many tubes are intended to be wired in series with other tubes (even other types of tubes). Look at the AA5 radio, you get 5 different tubes with 5 different heater voltages all wired in series across the AC mains.

In other cases, I've seen certain directly heated tubes with a heater center tap that required some help in balancing voltage/current if the filament halves were wired in series, but the datasheet was specific about this.
