McMaster's "Garolite" materials are a good choice. See http://www.mcmaster.com/#garolite/=wuonfjNote that some are actually "phenolic": traditionally named
paper-base XX (not so good)
canvas-base CE (stronger)
linen-base LE (smoother, almost as strong as canvas-base)
Under that trade name, they also have the familiar glass-epoxy materials:
G-10
G-10/FR4
McMaster stocks both sheets and useful shapes (including angles).
If you can't find it at McMaster-Carr, you probably don't need it.
