After seeing your recommendations for octal plugs/sockets and Triode_Kingdom's remark: "..These have been successfully used for many years in ham radio gear carrying up to 750V or so", I examined Cinch datasheets and noticed two specs:
Dielectric strenght: 1kV, Operating voltage: 250VAC.
To me, that means that arcing will happen at 1 kV and that agrees with Triode_Kingdom's aforementioned remark. The operating voltage should be viewed in conjunction with the current spec to avoid generating enough heat to melt the insulator. The latter interpretation is in line the specs of Furutech plugs/sockets: 240V, 10A/120V 15A.
Stand to be corrected.
