RE: Terrific DIY Video

Think that the sound samples he had at the end of the video, were bright by design. Kinda typical EL84 tone. To show that the amp can cut through the bass and drum mud. First question most folks have about small SE amps, for band use.

He has that guitar setup pretty bright, too.

Not sure what kinda cab he is playing through, either. Sounds like ceramic magnet speaker(s). IME, easier to dial in a more mellow tone on a hot amp. Than make a brownish-sounding amp clean, loud, and cut through rhythm mud. Though, I personally like a slightly browner tone, through alnico magnet speakers.

All those metal film PRP resistors are gonna make the tone bright, too. I like old-school carbon comp, in the signal path.
