Thanks for that informative post.
Isn't that what we see in GSH's post of 02/22/15, only using an actual pentode instead of a hybrid cascode? I refer to the 47K resistor shown in the right hand of the two schematics he placed side by side. Penny for your thoughts.

I think the use of such a resistor as you describe, in the context of a cascode, is mentioned by Morgan Jones (and Jon Broskie, too, I think) as a way to prevent excessive current that may be needed by the upper triode from flowing to the lower triode, in a cascode made from dissimilar gain triodes or other.
