update

Still working my way through the article on grounding, but while doing so I tripped over a hint, just not sure what it means. If I ground just one of the rca cables the hum is lower. I assume this is getting rid of one ground loop. While hooking this up I accidentally shorted the input of the rca cable to it's ground on the left channel. The music stopped of course, but to my surprise so did the hum, completely. So what is this telling me? Does this mean the hum is coming in from the preamp via the cable along with the signal, or do I have another ground loop someplace?
