RE: cloning the Fisher

I am sure you will have a nice sounding amp, but will not likely sound like a Fisher clone.

The Fisher tube amps has a 'house sound'. It is very musical (almost addicting) like a LS3/5 British BBC monitor speaker. The sound is far from perfect in stock form. Using a few superior replacement coupling capacitors substantially improves the depth and clarity of the soundstage, but does not remove that Fisher house sound.

A customer that has a upgraded Fisher also bought a Bob Latino ST-120. He has been playing with the ST-120, but preferred that Fisher sound. (The ST-120 is a serious amplifier). An octal 6SN7 board is reported to sound better than the 12BH7s with the same coupling capacitors.
