I wrote from the get-go that this was my subjective opinion, but it is a very consistent observation over many different pieces of gear. Gusser is fair to point out that there is indeed a placebo effect to consider. But I thought we've agreed it's OK to say "A sounds better than B, and I don't claim to know why". Which is the way I put it in my first post directed at the OP.
Also, as I wrote above, in this instance there in fact are known and measurable differences between silicon diodes on the one hand and UF or Schottky diodes on the other that could well be determinants of their perceived (by me) differences in sound, in favor of the latter two types. But I do not claim to know that there is any connection, in fact. If you think about it, we seldom have such proofs available to us in audio.
