Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

My point is,

Lets just not make sweeping statements such as "bridge rectifiers sound like crap", not that you or anyone said that but this thread seemed to be heading that way.

It all depends on the application and circuit design. If you are going to replace diodes in a commercial product, you need to do some research and testing. Just blindly swapping out parts because of internet fokelore will often net you even poorer performance.
