Keeping in mind the amount of swing you need for the 50 to reach the power you want, look at the plate curves of the 71a with the load line, if you drop from 20ma to 10ma with everything else the same, following the load line to the right of the idle point it drops into the "mud" (non-linear part where the grid lines bunch up and the plate voltage doesn't move very much compared to the plate voltage movement to the left of idle) really quickly.
