Your local store is ripping you off. For a few bucks more, you can buy 100 ft. of 10 AWG OFC wire from Parts Express.

Can the fancy cabling make a difference? Yes, at least some of the time. However, the Law of Diminishing Returns applies. The improvement you realize is not in proportion to the amount you spend. Good metal (no imbeded copper oxide rectifiers) and low net resistance constitute much of the "battle".

FWIW, I use some fairly pricey AudioQuest stuff that was purchased when money was not nearly as tight as it is now. These days, the rope lay OFC stuff is what I would buy.
