RE: Soldering Woes

Hello,

For heavy-duty jobs, or just where I like to get a lot of heat on a joint, I use my trusty Weller soldering GUN at a healthy 135 watts. It heats up and cools down fast, and always makes enough heat. You do have to re-learn your technique, but once you do, I find the gun makes faster, better solder joints.

As to cleaning terminals, get a fiberglass "scratch brush". They're cheap and I have yet to find anything anywhere near as effective. Solvents are a waste of time in my opinion, when a scratch brush leaves you with bare metal in seconds.
