As a person who never was a fan of the usual audiophile oil caps for coupling applications, I nevertheless tried some K40s in a preamp (2uF value, used for output); I was not enchanted, but that's me. I HAVE found the Russian silver mica caps, SSG, available in values up to 0.13 uF, to be quite superb as couplers, and they don't appear to require long break-in. Maybe they are a tiny bit bright at first but then very transparent within several hours.
