RE: Final Update on the less is more amp.......

Well, I spent several hours this morning a/b testing it against my 71a, 45 and 300b SE amps. To my surprise I really could not hear any significant differences between it and them. I played blues and light jazz for the 45 and 71a, and classical for the 300B.

While that basically means I will not build a final version of it, it does make me very curious as to what other tubes might do really well in triode mode. Some of the big transmitter tubes like the 813 for instance, so that will be the next direction I go in.

Bottom line on this one is if you have good efficient speakers and want a quick and easy se triode amp, build the first stage only of this. You will get great music for little effort or money
