I am now up to 3 6bq5's per channel on this amp. With each addition the mA's and B+ have dropped some, but so far I have not noticed any audible difference other than an increase in power. I guess I will have to look at the curves to see where the 25 mA/305 volts puts me compared to the design parameters of about 35mA/360 volts to see if I want to try a different power transformer to get back closer to design specs.
Any way...... it sounds great. It's clean, quiet (no hum at all) and has enough power at 6 watts per channel to do the job.
Next step is some serious A/B testing with jazz, blues and classical against my 71A, 45 and 300B SE amps to see how it stacks up against them before I decide if I want to build it. Getting too many amps; if I build this one, one of the others has to go.
