Not a bad analogy, remembering that the load at the grid end is non linear so you need a fairly strong rubber band to minimise stretching when the load increases (akin to insufficiently low impedance causing non-linearity with the onset of grid current).

Still, relatively little force is required to overcome the load even when grid current flows, increasing with current but remaining fairly light until the tube (plate) nears saturation at which point the load becomes extremely heavy.

I strongly suggest that you feed one end of the secondary directly from the Tent supply and connect the other end of the secondary to the grid with no cap. It's very simple and worth a try to see how far it will get you into A2. If not enough then buffering to provide sufficient current is the best way to get you all the way without great complication. Always try the simplest way first IMHO.
