Ha, ha, that's a great idea! For now, what I'm actually doing is "re-indexing" some octal tubes. These tubes want to be medium power pentode output tubes, but the manufacturer keyed them to be special tubes that don't fit anything ever made. So, I've milled off the index on the guinea pig and installed a new one in a different location. The process is tedious, but the end result is very strong. I'm hoping it will allow putting these NOS tubes to good use in standard amplifiers.
