A well designed differential input stage will not benefit a whole lot from the balanced cable interface. (See DIY audio thread on making a differential amp with half a 12AU7 and half a 12AX7 CCS loaded)

If you have a ground loop issue now, then maybe there is some merit to the idea, but I would really be looking at using TVC's instead of AVC's to get what you're looking for.

Depending on the amplifier in question, you might also consider using input transformers at the amplifier.
