Good day everyone. I need some assistance with what board to get for a aikido preamp build. I have a Rane MP2016A DJ mixer with expansion unit that I love. A very clean and neutral sound. I am seeking to add some color to the sound when I record my mixes (or music playback.) I was considering purchasing a Bozak CMA 10-2dL mixer, but I would have to create some circuits that did not exist in the mixer and restore quite a bit. I am not above mods - I reworked a sound workshop 421 disco mixer to incredible end.
Then light went off when I thought perhaps the old mixer is not the way to go. Perhaps I need a tube preamp.
I think I have settled on Aikido pre's, but I have no clue what boards and power supply to purchase.
My goals are:
Fat warm bass, mids you know exist, and highs that sparkle.
XLR in and XLR out.
Rack mount enclosure with fan(s)
I have also thought of hot rodding a behringer t1953 or t1951, but the design of those circuits will only go so far no matter how much money is thrown at it.
Can anyone point me in the direction I need to travel?
