If one had to stay with 300B & high power, I would trust PP to have a better final result. The SE audio transformer would be a little odd designed for four SE 300B. Some state parallel tubes can cause slight smearing, but I have not tested that in any depth.
A PP triode amp can sound as good as SE, but the phase splitter must be right. A twin tail 6SN7 with a CCS will sound quite good with carefully matched components. Of course the rest of amp must be carefully designed including quality components.
The PP I built sounds like SE, but is a little more dynamic. A fast power amp may not please some audiophiles.
