The M120 also used 4 8417 in PPP.

Sounds like I will have a pretty wide variety of tubes to choose from with this iron. Probably most of the 6L6 variants would work depending on operating point, etc.

The 8417 is an interesting tube. Like the EL503 it was late on the scene, easy to drive, but perhaps not as stable as other designs. Too bad the tube era died before these tubes reached their full potential in commercial products.
