Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Well, all is well in tube amp land ;-)

Bought a batch of slow-blow fuses which were anything but! They didn't look like slow blow, just having the thin wire inside -- is that definitive? So, they all just immediately blew out on startup!

Got fuses at Jameco Electronics instead of the local electronics supply outlet. 45 cents a fuse, can't beat the price, and the correct item. Can't have enought of these. It really pays to be prepared.

Replaced all the cathode resistors with metal film 10 ohm resistors so I can consistently bias the EL34 tubes. Fortunately, these resistors are at the top of the board and easy enough to replace -- don't have to remove anything except the top cover.

I am running 25 ma bias current. Is that too low?

Think I found the bad solder joint in the EL34 socket and reflowed the joint from topside of the circuit board. Crossing my fingers that this will solve the unusual blow-rate on this one socket.

Plugged it in and it sounds just fine -- I've only listened to CeeDee so far though ;-)

Happy listening to all.
