My Dayton plate amp (before it failed from a turn on thump) seemed to do what you are describing. Noise from light switches making or breaking in the house would turn the amp on. I went to a Qsc amp for woofer duty have had zero issues since. Well, all my audio is fed off of balanced transformers now also...JH
