Well a 10 ohm resistor dropping 0.7 volts (70mA) has the resistor displacing 0.7*0.07 or 0.049 watts. Even if the resistor was used for a measurement of 150 mA the resistor would only see 0.1 watts. Use a 1 watt resistor and you will never have another problem.
