Thanks for the education in "back bias". I'd heard of it but until now haven't encountered or understood it. Credits to Jim McShane, Palustris, Chris O, commentary, and others. I've only been working on tube amps since 1965, so I'm still on a learning curve you see. So far all the amps I've encountered developed bias in more conventional ways. There's always something new to learn about, and it often turns out to be something old, very old. If such a highly regarded amp as the Brooks used back bias, there must be something good about it. I hope the OP wasn't scared away by all the postings.
