RE: Series Resistor to Increase Preamp Input Impedance?

You can add a resistor in series, yes, but you will create a voltage divider with your 2K control, causing other issues (attenuated input). You can also use an input transformer in this manner.

2k is really, really low input impedance for a preamp. The two potentially viable options would be to buffer the sources feeding the preamp, or modifying the control itself in the preamp.

I would be really careful with modifying the preamp, there could be a very good reason that the control has such a low impedance.

On the other hand, adding buffers to your sources might not be so tough.
