Andy, I have both set 300b, and pp 2a3. The descriptions of the differences you and others have given are accurate in my opinion. My 2a3 pp uses all lundahl transformers, input/splitter to 5965 pp driving interstage, driving pp 2a3. I am using a lundahl mains that has two 250v winding in parallel, hybrid bridge clc feeding finals, hybrid bridge lcrc shunt regulated feeding input/driver. They are very good amps indeed. I still listen to the se amps regularly, but they don't hold a candle to the pp 2a3 for low level resolution, and an almost spooky sense of presence. The 2a3 am began life as pp 300b, but I could never get it quiet enough, and I dont need much power (gpa 604 speaks)so I converted to 2a3, and have been very pleased.
