It's a matter of taste, your speakers, and what you listen to. I prefer PP. As long as they're DHT's, they don't give up THAT much "magic", and they are much better at bass and can keep things together on complex passages.
I listen to a lot of large orchestra and big band; SET's just sag and get sloppy/wooley. And my speakers are only 93dB, SE 300b's just aren't happy in that neighborhood. Even PSE, they just don't cut it - on my speakers.
My slapped together PP 6B4G's on rusty Dynaco Mk2 chassis w/ Sansui output iron embarrassed a half-dozen expensive SE 300b amps at an audio club meeting. To be honest, it wasn't a fair fight; the "hi efficiency" speakers were not as efficient as advertised.
It's a trade-off. I'm not opposed to 300b's, am building a PP 300b amp now.
