Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Yeah, that was my point in posting

I thought, in light of the recent discussion about black insulation, that the Kimber quote I posted was a pretty amazing coincidence.

Obviously, Kimber markets their product on the basis that it sounds better for the price. Let's assume Ray Kimber is at least a bit sincere. I can't imagine he would have said what he did if he believed insulation color makes a difference. Again assuming he knows at least a bit about hi-fi cables, I'll take his word over anecdotal evidence to the contrary, just because it makes more sense: Wire color doesn't matter. Other people are free to believe what they want and it doesn't bother me a bit. Really.

I suppose this could all be some kind of subterfuge. Maybe wire color does make a difference and Kimber is just putting out disinformation to throw off the competition. But that's kind of a stretch.

Anyway, I agree discussions like this properly belong on the Cable and Tweakers forums, but I did find the "Stereophile" quote interesting enough to share given the earlier discussion.
