RE: PS Design- missing larger picture?

"You can definitively hear unnecessary impedance in the PS but I don't subscribe to the sub critical choke input notion. With that said, I have not yet tried this approach... when I get some time, to screw around, I will eventually. I suspect that I'll find find some interesting dynamics and some unpalatable ripple..."

Your observation about AC ripple is the result of not having any practical experience building or listening to a sub-critical inductance L1 in a LCLC B+ filter to the finals in a SE tube amp circuit.

I have 400mVp-p AC ripple to the finals of a triode 6V6 and only 1-2mV AC ripple at the speaker posts.

Why? I use a high mu driver running at 770uADC.

The ripple is very low to the driver stage, that is what matters in a 2-stage SE tube amp.

That is what DrLowMu has asserted and I also found it to be true IME.

What I find most useful is to build and listen to a circuit idea, then you will know for sure if it sounds good or not.

Good luck.
