To me that implies it does not have sufficient capacity for the load. Sure there will always be some voltage variation with unregulated audio power amp supplies. But the design goal, at least the commercially practiced goal, is to keep this wandering to a minimum.Consider this, if the power supply was a large battery bank, let's say in the case of a 2 watt SE amp, the battery bank is 100 amps. Now will there be a recovery period here?
Now I have no doubt this hypothetical battery supplies amp will sound quite different than a LSES amp. It will be "lifeless" and "dull" to use your words - right? See I do know what is going on here. The LSES is a dynamics enhancer. And that does sound good. But is it real?
