RE: KT88 G2 limits?

From my experience with GEC/MOV KT-88, they seem to need high B+ (700+ VDC) to reveal their superb headroom. So, I think 600VDC on G2 would be fine. Just adjust the idle bias to around 35-40mA per tube.

I find if the plate voltage is say, 600 VDC and the idle bias adjusted accordingly with original NOS KT-88, you tend to lose some of that great headroom and bass response.

The KT-88's were in late 1960's, early 1970's Orange, Hiwatt, and Marshall guitar amps running push-pull AB1 topology. 200 very conservatively rated watts. Prolly the loudest amps I'd ever heard.
