Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

You need to put things into perspective here.

The subjective loudness difference between getting 2.5W verses 3.5W out of an amplifier is only 1.46dB. Now the dB is considered lowest perceivable loudness difference that the “average” human ear can detect. The question you need to be asking yourself is it worth burning up tubes every six months to get another 1.46dB out of your amplifier? In my opinion if 1.46dB is a deal breaker, then you need to consider a more powerful tube choice.
