The debate with myself still goes on about power supplies

Question I am proposing to all you out there. Is one huge power supply with plenty of headroom to spare as good, better than, not as good as two separate power supplies that are of substantial size in their own right for a preamp.

A good tech/friend that lives near me is on the fence with this issue. On one side he says that no matter how closely you match two spearate ones there is always some sort of mismatch(voltage, current output, etc.)no matter how slight. Audible or not? Maybe but most likely not. He said you will never have a matching problem with one huge supply. He feels that separate power supplies for each channel is more esoteric than functional as long as you build the single one with gobs of available current to spare. He said he has measured differences in matching mono power supplies but what he measured wasn't audible. But that doesn't mean it wasn't. It just means his ears didn't pick up any differences.

What does the crowd out there think?

Thanks!
Paul
