Hi.
as I'm yet to be impressed as much as a good triode amp - sonically & musically.
Mind you, I own one at home a DC-200KHz SS power amp. It sounds pretty pretty good, better than many SS amps I've audition so far, but still lacks the being-there muical feeling.
Mind you I am talking about music performance.
I think this is due to the natural non-linear behaviour of the P/N semiconductor junction of a sand device, be it a single transistor or a complex combination of multiple transistors as packaged in an Op-amp chip.
Dennis, this is not "TINY & SHORT cirucit path" that straight forward & simple to handle complex music transiens. It is the transfer curve the music signals have to pass thru that active/passive device which MUST be as linear as possible. Semiconductor P/N junction fails to provide it. This is basic physics.
Glad you mention about recording studioes, Neumann condensor mics are used worldwide for decades, & I sold, installed them in concerts & recording studios in my earlier audio trade years.
Now Meumann supplies 3 tube microphoness, all are world renowned for the natural voice performance which Neumann recommends to the recording industries.
One long established music CD production co, with hundred labels available on-line, also famous for its audiophile grade goldplated test CDs, used Neumann M149 for all its vocal recordings. Why, Neuman recomended it to Hugo for vocals as it sounds so much like huamn voice than its other all models using FET/chips.
I got a Germany recorded/cut music CD, using all tubes equipment, including the vintage master-tape recorder. The CD title: "The tube", which I believe many tube lovers already got it.
