If you search under my name for posts including the word "flywheel" here is a post where I used PSUD2 to model the "LSES", Henry's flywheel, and some other cases, including my own design which is low DCR, critical-L input, with careful filter alignment to get fast settling time and near-critical damping.

My observation is that after reading through the thread you cite, and comparing with recent threads on similar subjects, there has not been substantial change in the discussion; even the flywheel concept was alluded to by Thorsten as "resonant choke input" with effective DCR close to zero.
