More PS discussions sounds like a great idea. Having the same PS discussion over and over is what I am not interested in. There are other PS discussions, like John Swenson's regulator design and GaryP's adaptation, that come up from time to time that are great for new ideas.

Now the subject of this thread "Measures good, sounds bad" is a great topic for a broader discussion about pursuing measurement excellence vs. pursuing good sound...

My philosophy is to combine an idea or a goal with basic engineering principles to create a design. I measure it to be sure it's doing what I want it to do. Then I listen to a lot of different sources at different levels, etc. and change things like OP, bias circuits, chokes... and when the sound changes I try to measure again to help understand what's going on. Sometimes the sound changes and it's hard to measure a difference. Sometimes you can't measure everything and need to create some folklore to justify the result ;-)

Cheers,

Michael
