Take a #10 x 1/2 inch bolt with star lockwashers on each side of the chassis. Do not paint or plate the chassis on either side around the mounting hole the bolt goes in. I generally locate the bolt close to the filter caps. Ring the bolt with about 3 or more solderless wire end terminations (ring shaped). The center tap from the power transformer secondary B+, the green ground AC cord lead, the two or more filter cap/choke ground leads and the buss barr come to this bolt. I generally use about a 12 awg or larger solder plated solid copper wire as the ground buss to all the filter caps. This 12 awg solid wire is buss barr wire that is sold by Belden and Alpha. This length of wire extends the full length of the chassis but is only connected to the chassis to the star bolt. All signal grounds or grounded short resistor/capacitor leads terminate to this long wire. I generally support the buss barr wire with insulated stand offs. All grounds come to this one star ground bolt. I insulate all RCA phono jacks from the chassis with nylon shoulder washers. XLR jacks are already insulated. No ground signal is run through the chassis. The chassis is a shield and makes contact with the signal grounds at only one point at the star bolt. Ray Hughes
Little boxes on the hillside... Little boxes made of ticky tacky. Theres a red one and a green one and blue one and a yellow one... And the're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same... Malvina Reynolds (song from the 60s)
