It's funny you should mention that. I'm working on a design similar to the Nickel Wonder, although it uses fancier tubes, a shunt regulated power supply, and a negative voltage rail to allow for a current sink under the common cathode. I will be using the 124B to start, and looking elsewhere in the future.
