Mike,
The choke "sits" between the lower anode and the upper cathode. Slice and dice as much as you like, a SRPP is a stack of a common cathode under a cathode follower. In order to obtain biasing symmetry, the DCR between the triodes and the DCR under the common cathode triode must be the same. A series RL combination between the triodes allows for both correct DCR and a high AC impedance to exist, simultaneously.
Unlike a mu follower, stage gain in a SRPP is not "=" to the lower triode's mu. Look into Broskie's writings for a learned explanation.
