I run my 300B SE amps on a 8 ohm tap for 15 ohm speakers, which reflects around 7000 ohms back to the 300B. It seems to provide lower distortion to my speakers. My amps do use fixed bias. However, the tube operating conditions are about 70 ma and 350 B+ volts.
