Fortunately, I have a few options for B&M electronic supply/surplus shops which usually stock used test equipment, and they will demo any of the gear they sell (other than surplus stuff). I have a nice older HP digital VOM I bought a few years ago; I did not realize until I got it home that it had a "Braniff Airlines" property/serial no. badge affixed (Believe It!)
I REALLY appreciate the specifics on the specs, as I was underestimating things a bit! (I thought I could get away with 20MHz; >=40 MHz does make more sense and would certainly allow for more reliable EMI/RFI measurements.)
I'm going to research the Sencore-it appears to be an ideal choice, especially if that inexpensive and reliable.
Nickel Core (terrific moniker, BTW), I'm glad to hear of your experience with the Picoscope as I have been intrigued. My only reservation is the lack of knob-twisting due to being software-based; I had a software-controlled communications/shortwave receiver at one time-it did have a lot of advanced functions, great RF performance, and was relatively inexpensive but I never fully acclimated to the software interface and ultimately sold it in favor of a "real" radio.
Russ, thanks for the tip regarding Telequipment. I have searched and found that "Type R" is just a rack-mount designation, not the actual model number. I'll have to look for the model number. Even if I don't use these scopes for audio, I still indend to keep/maintain them because I just hate to see perfectly good gear sit unused to simply rot into scrap metal.
