Oscilloscope questions...

Quite simply, what are the minimum specs. necessary for AF purposes (bandwidth, sensitivity, etc.) for general testing of tube and SS circuits (also, comments on your favorite probes are appreciated)? I do have experience using them (mainly for RF circuits and some putzing around back in my Physics lab days), so that is not a huge concern. I THINK I would prefer analog to digital (my experience is almost exclusively analog), but perhaps the advanced triggering options and data logging capabilities in digital 'scopes would be helpful?

I just acquired two (old) 'scopes from my Dad (who got them in the early 80's free when they were being retired from drilling rig service). They are single-trace Telequipment "Type R", made in England-he simply stacked them for dual-trace work. I have no documentation and have no idea of the specs, but both work fine enough that the probe can be compensated (one is missing the graticle overlay though), and the tubes are bright and free of any burns. I opened them for a cleaning and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness after all those years in the oilfield and Dad's garage as well as the truly excellent build and parts quality (reminded me of ARC gear!)-judging from the parts (particularly transistors) I would guess they were made in the early-mid 70's and were probably quite expensive. These 'scopes might be all I need, but I have no way of knowing without any information about them. Obviously, if any of you know anything about them (or where I can get documentation) I would be GREATLY appreciative.

If I do need to buy a more modern 'scope, I would prefer to stay in the US $400-600 price range. The 'scope will have a leisurely life only being used occasionally in my workshop, so used is probably fine (especially if BK or Tektronix).

I greatly appreciate any input any of you can provide...
