Jeff,

When these specifications and limits were drawn up most electrolytic caps had a tolerance of something like +60/-40% so a 50% increase is probably within original design tolerances. Newer electros are much tighter tolerances and much, much smaller. In my almost 40 years of tinkering with this stuff the size of a tube filter cap has shrunk around 60% - pretty amazing stuff.
