I agree with you that I can only go so far with replacing parts. I do however feel that in many cases you get what you pay for and that the accountants who built the latest version of the 502 went very skimpy(omitting bypass caps, cheap cheap signal caps,cheap diodes,etc.). I would like to try the mods suggested, however at this time I need to learn more about electronics. I'm not comfortable just yet. I have time to do these things in the future. Baby steps. Thank You for all the good advice. I will save Caucasian Blackplate's ideas and refer to them when I am ready.
